Pope Francis tells about the importance of Charism

The charism is necessary for all of us

Pope Francis emphasizes the importance of charisms as gifts of the Holy Spirit for unity, service, and the building up of the Church, urging their promotion and safeguarding within the Catholic Church. Here's a more detailed look at Pope Francis's message on charisms:

  • Charisms as Gifts of the Spirit: Pope Francis views charisms as gifts given by the Holy Spirit for the good of the Church and the common good.
  • Importance for Unity and Service: He highlights that charisms are essential tools for unity and service within the Church, rooted in God's love.
  • Safeguarding Charisms: He emphasizes the need to safeguard charisms, warning that they can become diluted as movements develop, urging leaders to preserve the original charism.
  • Charisms for Evangelization: Pope Francis stresses that every charism can and must cooperate in evangelization, urging those with charisms to pray and work, not just proselytize.
  • Charisms and the Church: He emphasizes that charisms are for the edification of the Church, not an end in themselves, and that the Church's purpose is to evangelize.
  • Charisms and the Holy Spirit: Pope Francis reminds us that the Holy Spirit creates and distributes charisms, and that they are diverse in nature.
  • CHARIS and its Role: Pope Francis has spoken about the role of CHARIS (Catholic Charismatic Renewal International Service) in promoting charisms and encouraging them to be put at the service of the whole Church, especially those that serve evangelization.
  • Spiritual Growth: He also encourages the spiritual deepening and holiness of people who live the experience of baptism in the Holy Spirit, emphasizing that the path to holiness involves growth in personal conversion and the generous gift of oneself to Christ and others.

The ICCR IS faithful ally of the Diocese

Rev. Fr. Bobby Calunsag wish to encourage all

As I Rev. Fr. Bobby Calunsag, the founder of the ICCR family, encourage all dioceses and parishes to recognize and embrace the charism of the ICCR family. Our unique mission is to be a faithful and professional ally in pastoral care, especially for parishes in need of a partnership to support their ministry within their diocese.

Our focus is on ensuring that the individuality, values, and charism of every person, group, religious organization, association, and movement are cared for with profound attention and love. The ICCR family is devoted to contributing to pastoral care in the parish, just as Christ emphasized the importance of the one lost sheep over the ninety-nine that are secure.

I am hopeful that the ICCR will be recognized as a pastoral partner, enabling us to fulfill this mission and touch lives at the personal and community level. Together, we can embody the spirit of service and shepherding care. Let us collaborate to make this vision a reality.

ICCR has unique charism

The intent of its founder: Rev. Fr. Bobby Calunsag

The ICCR family carries a unique charism, deeply rooted in the profound teaching of Christ as the Good Shepherd—a focus on the individual soul and its intrinsic worth. This stands apart from other religious organizations that may emphasize broader outreach, collective action, or large-scale ministry.

Here are some defining aspects of the ICCR family's charism:

  1. Personal Connection: Inspired by Jesus’ parable of the lost sheep (Luke 15:4-7), the ICCR family prioritizes care for each member, recognizing their individuality and preciousness. Their approach mirrors Christ’s attentive concern for the one in need, rather than focusing solely on the collective group.
  2. Spiritual Intimacy: While many organizations highlight community-building, the ICCR family stresses the importance of personal spiritual growth, ensuring each member feels uniquely valued and supported in their journey.
  3. Holistic Care: They acknowledge not only the spiritual needs of individuals but also emotional and personal dimensions, reflecting the love of Christ that embraces the whole person.
  4. Transformational Love: The ICCR family embodies a model of love that transforms, reaching out to even the one lost or struggling soul and celebrating their return with joy, just as Jesus teaches.

This charism makes their ministry particularly heartfelt and deeply impactful. It reflects a shepherd’s devotion, where no one is overlooked or forgotten, even in the midst of a larger community.

First homily of Pope Leo XIV

  •  Pope Leo XIV delivered his first complete homily at Mass with the cardinal electors in the Sistine Chapel on May 9, 2025, the morning after his election. In his homily, he began with a brief message in English, quoting the Responsorial Psalm: “I will sing a new song to the Lord, because he has done marvels.” He then continued in Italian, reflecting on the words of St. Peter: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Mt 16:16).
  • He emphasized the apostolic succession, the mission of the Church, and the holiness of its members, calling on the faithful to proclaim the Gospel and recognize the marvels of God in their lives. His homily also highlighted the responsibility of the papacy, describing the Church as a beacon of light and an ark of salvation sailing through history.

  •                                          ----

  • Here is a translation of Pope Leo XIV's homily from Italian to English:
  • "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Mt 16:16). In these words, Peter, asked by the Master, together with the other disciples, about his faith in him, expressed the patrimony that the Church, through the apostolic succession, has preserved, deepened, and handed on for two thousand years. Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God: the one Savior, who alone reveals the face of the Father. In him, God, in order to make himself close and accessible to men and women, revealed himself to us in the trusting eyes of a child, in the lively mind of a young person, and in the mature features of a man (cf. Gaudium et Spes, No. 22), finally appearing to his disciples after the resurrection with his glorious body.

  • He thus showed us a model of human holiness that we can all imitate, together with the promise of an eternal destiny that transcends all our limits and abilities. Peter, in his response, understands both of these things: the gift of God and the path to follow in order to allow himself to be changed by that gift. They are two inseparable aspects of salvation entrusted to the Church to be proclaimed for the good of the human race. Indeed, they are entrusted to us, who were chosen by him before we were formed in our mothers’ wombs (cf. Jer 1:5), reborn in the waters of Baptism and, surpassing our limitations and with no merit of our own, brought here and sent forth from here, so that the Gospel might be proclaimed to every creature (cf. Mk 16:15).

  • In a particular way, God has called me by your election to succeed the Prince of the Apostles, and has entrusted this treasure to me so that, with his help, I may be its faithful administrator (cf. 1 Cor 4:2) for the sake of the entire mystical Body of the Church. He has done so in order that she may be ever more fully a city set on a hill (cf. Rev 21:10), an ark of salvation sailing through the waters of history, and a beacon that illumines the dark nights of this world. And this, not so much through the magnificence of her structures or the grandeur of her buildings—like the monuments among which we find ourselves—but rather through the holiness of her members. For we are the people whom God has chosen as his own, so that we may declare the wonderful deeds of him who called us out of darkness into his marvelous light (cf. 1 Pet 2:9)."

This mission not only reflects the values of the Divine Will but also serves as a testament to the importance of family in living a Christ-centered life.

The Missionary Fathers of the Divine Will habit

  •  The habit of the MFDW - Missionary Fathers of the Divine Will is a profound expression of the community's mission and spirituality. Its design and colors are rich with symbolism, embodying the virtues and spiritual focus central to their vocation.
  • The Three Colors:

  • Green for Hope:
  • The color green symbolizes growth, renewal, and life. It reflects the theological virtue of hope, which is the foundation of the missionary work of the MFDW. The priests and religious are called to inspire hope in the hearts of those they serve, particularly in challenging times. It reminds them to trust in God’s promises and to guide others toward the ultimate hope—the joy of eternal life in God's Kingdom.

  • White for Faith:
  • White represents purity, clarity, and the steadfastness of faith. This color reminds the missionaries of their commitment to live in unwavering faith, grounded in the truth of the Gospel. It is also a call to radiate the light of Christ, serving as instruments of God’s love and truth in a world yearning for spiritual clarity and direction.

  • Red for Charity:
  • The vibrant red stands for the burning love of charity. It calls the MFDW to embody selflessness and sacrificial love in their ministry. This love, modeled after Christ’s ultimate sacrifice on the cross, becomes the heart of their mission—to bring God’s love to all, especially to the marginalized and forgotten.

  • The White Scapular with the Sun of the Divine Will:
  • The white scapular is a sacred garment, symbolizing consecration to the Divine Will. Its pristine white reflects the purity and humility required to fully align one's life with the will of God. At the center of the scapular is the Sun of the Divine Will, a powerful emblem signifying God’s omnipresent light and guidance. The sun serves as a reminder that the Divine Will is the source of all life and goodness, radiating its blessings on those who humbly surrender to its power.

  • The Central Word: "Fiat"
  • The word “Fiat,” embedded in the design, encapsulates the essence of the MFDW’s mission. It echoes the Blessed Virgin Mary’s fiat, her humble "yes" to God’s plan. It challenges the priests and religious to live lives rooted in obedience and surrender to God’s will, making the Divine Will the core of their ministry and daily existence.
  • The MFDW habit, in its entirety, is not just a garment but a spiritual symbol that inspires and reminds its wearers of their sacred duty. It unites them as a community of faith, hope, and charity, dedicated to living and spreading the Divine Will.

The ICCR Family: Preparing for a Milestone Constitution and Bylaws

The ICCR family stands at a pivotal moment in its journey as it prepares for the approval of its constitution and bylaws—a comprehensive document designed to govern and enrich its community life. This undertaking reflects the ICCR’s commitment to fostering unity, growth, and sanctification within its vibrant spiritual family.

This forthcoming constitution is a testament to the ICCR’s vision, offering a vast and insightful framework that embraces nearly every aspect of integral human activity. It recognizes the evolving landscape of communication, giving value to modern advancements such as artificial intelligence, social media, classical radio, and television. These tools are highlighted not just for their technological relevance but also for their potential as powerful vehicles for evangelization and community engagement.

A particularly inspiring aspect of the constitution is its emphasis on inclusivity and the nurturing of individual charisms. Whats' wrong with the leaders in the community today?

"Il Pesce Puzza dalla Testa": Leadership as the Foundation of a Thriving ICCR Family

The well-known Italian proverb "il pesce puzza dalla testa" (literally, "the fish rots from the head") is a poignant reminder of the critical role leadership plays in any organization or community. It suggests that the shortcomings and failures within a group often originate at the top—with its leaders. The ICCR (International Catholic Charismatic Revival) family recognizes this truth and takes proactive steps to address it, ensuring that its leaders are not only capable but exceptional.

Leadership and Its Impact on the Community

Leadership is the heart and soul of any community. A leader's actions, decisions, and vision profoundly influence the direction, morale, and unity of the group they serve. Unfortunately, mismanagement, negligence, or lack of proper training among leaders can lead to crises that threaten the stability and growth of a community. Within the ICCR family, there is a firm understanding that the strength of the family rests heavily on the shoulders of its leaders.

ICCR's Commitment to Leadership Formation

In light of this, the ICCR family is deeply committed to cultivating leaders and officers who understand their obligations and duties. The founder of ICCR has taken this responsibility to heart, knowing that today's members are the future leaders of the community. Leadership within ICCR is not viewed as a mere title or position of power; it is a call to serve, inspire, and uplift others.

The formation process within ICCR is designed to instill the values, skills, and principles that constitute excellent leadership. This involves:

  1. Education and Training: ICCR provides leaders with the tools they need to understand their roles and responsibilities fully. They are taught to navigate challenges, make informed decisions, and maintain the unity of the community.
  2. Modeling Leadership: The founder leads by example, demonstrating the essence of true leadership—selflessness, humility, integrity, and a commitment to the greater good.
  3. Spiritual Foundation: Leaders are grounded in faith and the teachings of Jesus Christ, ensuring that their actions align with the core values of the Gospel and the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.
  4. Encouraging Excellence: ICCR does not settle for mediocrity. Leaders are empowered to strive for excellence, embracing a vision of leadership that goes beyond mere competence.

Leadership as a Living Legacy

The ICCR family understands that leadership is not an end in itself but a means to achieve the greater mission of the community. By forming outstanding leaders, ICCR ensures the longevity, stability, and growth of its family. Leadership is seen as a living legacy—one that is passed down from one generation to the next, fostering a culture of trust, unity, and shared purpose.

Through its efforts, ICCR is building a community where leaders are not just figureheads but true stewards of their calling. The vision of the ICCR founder is clear: to transmit the essence of what it means to be a great leader. This vision will continue to guide the ICCR family as it grows and thrives, serving as a testament to the proverb that inspired this reflection.

As the ICCR family moves forward, it embraces the wisdom of "il pesce puzza dalla testa" by investing in its leaders and ensuring they are equipped to guide the community with integrity and excellence. Leadership, when nurtured and cultivated, becomes a powerful force for good—transforming not just the leader but the entire family they serve.
